We have £25,000 available to support local groups with great green ideas. If your community organisation has a project that benefits both the community and the environment, we want to hear from you!
📅 Grant Fund Opening: October 2024
Last year, the Sunshine Fund funded some incredible projects, including educational initiatives, energy efficiency upgrades, LED lighting for community halls and solar panels for a new community shop. This year, we’re eager to support even more projects that make a difference! Don’t miss out – this is a fantastic opportunity to bring your green ideas to life.
💡 What We’re Looking For:
We are particularly interested in projects that benefit both the environment and the local community. Here are some ideas for community projects we’re eager to support!
- Nature conservation and environmental education: Engaging schools, children, and adults.
- Renewable energy initiatives: Energy efficiency measures in schools and community buildings. Separately we are looking to arrange for energy surveys to help local schools and community buildings assess their options for renewable energy and energy efficiency, and to help find funding.
- Climate change awareness: Projects that help the community understand and prepare for climate impacts and promote community-led climate action.
- Low carbon skills, youth climate action and STEM education programmes
- Biodiversity projects: Wildflower seeding, tree planting, wetland improvements and hedge restoration.
- Local food projects: Growing local food and community orchards.
- Recycling, repair, reuse, and sharing initiatives
- Sustainable Transport
- Seed funding for new community-led energy initiatives.
Local groups, especially those who haven’t applied before, are encouraged to submit their applications. The application window opens in October 2024.
